Perfection

“Perfection” to me, is just a judgement. Whether judging another or judging ourselves. The only thing that’s “perfect” is life itself, no matter how we do it. I have spent many of my years caring way too much about being “perfect” in this world, until I realized that it’s an unreasonable goal. “Perfect” has a different meaning for everyone, so pleasing everyone is also an unreasonable goal. I have witnessed people run themselves ragged trying to please everyone, wearing the right mask in every different scenario, or different groups of people. Eventually, those people struggling to uphold the perfect facade for everyone in their life around them, crash and burn in a self-sabotage style. Accountability for not being “perfect”, is an impossibility for some. Admitting that you aren’t living your life authentically, is a really hard thing to do. Most of us numb our authentic selves, to cope with the inability to be “perfect”, or honest. Ultimately, we spend so much time judging ourselves based on the opinions of others and by their standards of “perfection”, and it’s a complete waste of valuable time and energy. Honesty, and standing in your truth, will not get you a whole lot of friends, validation, or liked very much, but it’s worth your quality of life. This life is too short to be wasting our energy on things we can’t control. Love your true friends, and let them love the true you. I live each day with so much gratitude to still be here, to be loved, and to now have learned how to see this life through miraculous childlike lenses. I do not strive to be anyone’s idea of “perfect”, not even my own. My art is also not “perfect” by the standards of some, and that is intentional. A couple of times while in the process of creating, I would stop to try to make something “perfect”. I could hear in my head, “stop, stop, stop, leave it alone”, and if I didn’t, it would snap. So, I no longer interrupt the flow by trying to attempt “perfection”. The energy and intentions in my art, is exactly how it is supposed to be. The best way to be, for you and for me, is authentically free.
